Field Athletes in Action at Grand Valley State Tuesday

ALLENDALE, Mich. – A few Trine University men's and women's field athletes were sent to Grand Valley State University on Tuesday to compete in the 10 Event Last Chance.

Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] was entered in the discus and hammer throw at the event. She had a throw of 59.03 meters (193' 8.00"), which was the longest throw of the day and keeps her second in the nation. In the discus open, she was eighth overall at 32.24 meters (105' 9.00"). She is 11th in NCAA DIII.

On the men's side, Theodore Samra [Lansing, Mich. / DeWitt] was third in the hammer throw open at 55.54 meters (182' 3.00"). It is his personal best throw and good for 18th in the country.

There are two more events on the schedule this week, the Saint Francis Fighting Chance and Harrison Dillard Twilight.
