Trine Women Remain Top 10 Nationally in Week Eight

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Trine University women's track and field team found themselves ranked in the top-10 for the second consecutive week in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rating Index for week eight of the 2022 outdoor season.

The Thunder competed in a variety of different last chance meets last week in order to keep student-athletes in position to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on May 26-28.

At the Harrison Dillard Twilight, Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] ran a 10:20.94 in the 3000-meter steeplechase, while Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] went 15.09 seconds in the 100-meter hurdle prelims and completed the long jump with a distance of 5.49 meters (18' 0.25"). Miller still owns the best NCAA DIII time in the steeplechase and Livingston sits on the cusp of qualifying for Nationals in the long jump.

Distance runner Lydia Randolph [Jefferson, Ohio / Edgewood Senior] was in action at the Saint Francis Fighting Chance event, where she finished the 10000-meter run in 38:52.91.

Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] was entered in the discus and hammer throw at the 10 Event Last Chance Meet at Grand Valley State University last week. She had a throw of 59.03 meters (193' 8.00"), which was the longest throw of the day and keeps her second in the nation. In the discus open, she was eighth overall at 32.24 meters (105' 9.00"). Obear is 12th in the country in that event.

There is one more opportunity to secure a better time before the choices are made for the Outdoor Championships, the Augustana Midwest Twilight at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois on Thursday, May 19.
