Thunder in Action at the Aurora Grand Prix Saturday

CHICAGO, Ill. – On the second day of the Aurora Grand Prix, the Trine University women's track and field team was in action after the men competed yesterday. The Thunder placed seventh out of 19 teams at the event. The University of Chicago were the team victors with 125.5 points, followed closely behind by Loras College with 119.5.

In the 5000-meter run, Lydia Randolph was the event champion with a time of 17:49.55. Teammates Brianna Medcalf (18:17.16) and Ana Parker (18:47.31) also scored points for the team with third and sixth-place finishes. Parker's time was a personal-best.

In the pole vault, Morgan Moslow and Avery Boyce were closing in on a school record. The duo claimed a height of 3.10 meters (10' 2.00"), good for a tie in ninth-place overall. For Moslow, it is a personal record and the two were just one-tenth of a meter from the school record height.

Emma Forker led the team in three different events on Saturday. She was third in the long jump with a score of 5.23 meters (17' 2.00") and placed 13th in the 60-meter dash (8.09 seconds) and 18th in the 200-meter dash (26.70 seconds). Her time in the 60 is a personal-best. Behind her in both sprint events was Mackenzie Miller. Miller was 16th in the 60 (8.17 seconds) and 20th in the 200 (26.81 seconds).

In the 800-meter run, Emily Wahl and Amira Faulkner each ran season-best times. Wahl was 10th with a mark of 2:25.54 while Faulker went 2:26.92 in the event, good for 12th. Faulkner also had the team's best time in the mile run at 5:19.23 to score an 18th place finish.

The team's 4x400-meter relay team of Kristin Baker, Abby Robison, Adrianne Jackson and Brynn Mericle placed eighth at the Aurora Grand Prix at 4:18.28. Mericle was also the top finisher for Trine in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.84 seconds (11th). Lia Vawter also had an 11th place finish in the high jump at 1.45 meters (4' 9.00").

The next event for the Thunder women will be a home meet, the Mrs. G Invitational. That takes place inside the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center (ARC) on Saturday, February 4.
