Women's Field Athletes Shine at Lancer Invitational

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Student-athletes competed in field events for the Trine University women's track and field team on Friday afternoon at the Lancer Invitational at Grace College. It was the final meet before the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Championships.

Two event wins highlighted the day for the team, including Madelyn Summers in the hammer throw at 43.90 meters (144' 0.00") and Mallory Wood in the pole vault at 2.60 meters (8' 6.25"). Breeyn Fulkerson was also seventh in the hammer with a toss of 36.61 meters (120' 1.00").

Summers was also the top scorer for Trine in the shot put. She placed fourth at 11.09 meters (36' 4.75"). Zharia Dodson (10.97 meters / 36' 0.00"), Abby Sanner (10.51 meters / 34' 5.75") and Kassandra Swank (10.28 meters / 33' 8.75") followed in the event, placing fifth, seventh and eighth.

The javelin saw Malena Ricks secure a second-place finishing position at 28.36 meters (93' 0.00"). Dodson was fourth at 25.42 meters (83' 5.00") and Peyton Schuring seventh at 23.59 meters (77' 5.00"). Chloe Bard was the top scorer in the discus event in fifth (34.67 meters / 113' 9.00") and Sanner added a sixth-place toss of 33.91 meters (111' 3.00").

The MIAA Outdoor Championships hosted by Olivet College will be on Thursday, May 4 and Friday, May 5.
