Mallory Wood Secures First Career MIAA Athlete of the Week Award

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Mallory Wood of the Trine University women's track and field team was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.

Wood, a sophomore from Goshen, Indiana, brought home one of two event wins for the Thunder at the Lancer Invitational hosted by Grace College. She competed in the pole vault, where she was able to reach a height of 2.60 meters (8' 6.25"). She just missed her personal best score of 2.70 meters (8' 10.25") set earlier this spring.

Wood and the rest of the track and field team concludes the conference portion of the season on Thursday, May 4 and Friday, May 5 for the MIAA Outdoor Championships at Olivet College. Wood enters the conference championship event as a member of the third-fastest 4x100-meter relay team, seventh in the 100-meter dash, and 12th in the pole vault in the MIAA.
