Mastodon Invitational Sees Several Score Inside the Top-Five

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Trine University women's track and field team was in action on Saturday afternoon at the Mastodon Invitational at Purdue University Fort Wayne.

The Thunder had several top-five marks, led by Avery Boyce who was second in the pole vault. Boyce had a best height of 2.95 meters (9' 8.00"). Anissa Rios was also in the top-five in her event, the 400-meter run, at 1:06.90. Eleanor Young (2:25.38) and Bailey Puckett (10:19.76) were fifth in their events, the 800-meter run and 3000-meter run.

Isabel Ferguson had a fifth-place finish in the triple jump at 9.45 meters (31' 0.00") and was the team's highest placer in the high jump. Ferguson was eighth in that event at 1.45 meters (4' 9.00"). Just outside the top five was Brynn Mericle, who qualified for the 60-meter hurdle finals and secured a sixth-place spot. She completed the race with a time of 9.76 seconds to pick up two spots on her qualifying time.

Seventh-place finishes were credited to Aniyah Small and Emma Forker. Small ran a 27.47-second time in the 200-meter run. Forker competed in the long jump and had a best score of 4.91 meters (16' 1.50"). Forker was also 11th in the 60-meter dash (8.27 seconds). Macy Bonifield, a freshman, led Trine in both throwing events. Bonifield scored 11.89 meters (39' 0.25") in the weight throw and 10.31 meters (33' 10.00") in the shot put to place 12th and 17th overall.

The two relay teams were second and third overall. The distance medley relay team scored a runner-up finish at 13:02.53 and the 4x400-meter relay squad third at 4:18.25.
