Kara Eck
Title: Assistant Coach/Throws

Kara Eck joins the Trine track & field coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2018-19 and will help with the throwers.

Eck is a 2018 graduate of Trine and had a standout four-year career as a member of the women's track & field team.  She ended her career as one of the most decorated student-athletes in school history as a five-time All-American thrower.  

After four seasons, she was a 12-time national qualifier, holder of four school records and conference records, a 13-time Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Champion, two-time USTFCCA national "Athlete of the Week, a six-time MIAA"Most Outstanding Field Athlete" award winner and a multiple-time all-region award winner.  In addition, Eck was a finalist for the national Honda Inspiration Award after a serious medical illness kept her from competing for the majority of the 2018 indoor season.

Eck currently holds the school record for the indoor shot put (46' 3.5") and weight throw (60' 6.25") as well as the outdoor record in the shot put (47' 11.75") and the hammer throw (189' 0.00").  In addition to her school records, she also currently owns conference records in the indoor shot put (43' 11.25"), the weight throw (57' 10.5") along with the outdoor record in the shot put (47' 3.50") and the hammer throw (187' 1.00").

Eck captured her first All-American honor in 2015 in the indoor weight throw with a sixth-place finish following a distance of 57' 7.50" which was a school record at the time.  The 2016 season saw her win two All-American Awards beginning with four-place finish in the shot put (46' 3.5") and then in the hammer during the outdoor season by finishing fifth (180' 10.00").  In 2017, Eck finished seventh at the NCAA Indoor Meet to earn her fourth All-American honor and then capped her final season by finishing fourth in the hammer at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Meet (185' 8.00"). 

Eck graduated from Trine with a degree in elementary education/special education and was named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll multiple times.
