Women's Triathlon Begins Season at North Central College

NAPERVILLE, ILL.  --  The Trine University women's triathlon team began the 2018 season with its first meet of the season at the North Central (Ill.) College Invitational in Naperville, Ill.

A total of 35 athletes competed in the event from five Division III schools.

Kyra Warren was the lone Trine competitor to complete all three stages of the race and posted an overall time of 1:16:32.6 to place 11th overall out of 21 finishers.  Warren began the event with a mark of 12:29.8 in the swimming portion and then followed with a time of 39:29.6 in the bike.  Warren then concluded the event with the 5-kilometer run where she posted the best time amongst the team of 23:06.5 which was the seventh-best time in the field.

Also competing for Trine was Montana Hermann, Katherine Kline, Catherine Porter, Rebecca Hollowell and Larkyn Dasch.  Hermann completed both the bike and swim portions of the race and had the fifth fastest time of the event in the bike with a time of 36:26.0.  Hermann went into the bike portion with a mark of 13:40.0 following the swim.

All of the remaining competitors also completed the swim segment with Kline leading the team out of the water with a time of 12:17.6.  Porter, Hollowell and Dasch all finished back-to-back-to-back with times of 15:05.4, 15:08.2 and 17:22.5, respectively.  

Trine will next compete in the Central Region Qualifier on Sunday, Sept. 16 hosted by East Tennesee State University in Watauga, Tenn.  The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
