Faulkner Earns Regional Honors

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University freshman triathlon student-athlete, Amira Faulkner (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook), earned All-Region honors for her performance at this past weekends Central Regional Qualifier in Pleasant Prairie, Wis.

Faulkner finished with the top overall time among Division III athletes to earn the All-Region award with a combined time of 1:09.05.61.  Faulkner also finished as the top overall freshman to also earn "All-Region Freshmen" honors.

The top three finishers in each collegiate division were awarded All-Region accolades.  

The race marked the first opportunity for teams and individuals to qualify for the Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships, set for Nov. 16 in Tempe, Arizona. Athletes completed a sprint-distance 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer draft-legal bike and 5-kilometer run.

The NCAA named triathlon an Emerging Sport for Women in 2014, a designation that gives the sport a 10-year window to demonstrate sustainability at the NCAA level.
