PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. -- The Trine University women's triathlon team opened their season at the USA Triathlon Central Region Qualifier on Saturday, Sept. 4 and return home as the team champion.
The Thunder came in with 31 points, the low score among Division III competition. Transylvania University came in second with 38 points while Millikin University and North Central College came in a tie for third with 39 points each.
Leading the way for the team was Amira Faulkner who finished second overall with a time of 1:09:33 three minutes out of first place.
Two other members of the team posted top-ten finishes including Kyra Warren who finished seventh (1:12:18) and Alexandria Smith who cam in ninth (1:13:20).
Another pair of Thunder came in the top-20 including Samantha Weaver in 14th (1:17:08) and Katie Berlew in 16th (1:17:46). Rebecca Schaffner rounded out the team finishing 35th with a 1:26:53.
