Women's Triathlon Second at Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Trine University women's triathlon team placed second out of 11 NCAA DIII institutions in attendance at the Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships on Saturday in Tempe, Arizona. It is the third consecutive season with a top-two finish at the national event.

Sophomore Grace Huisman led the way for Trine and was fourth among all of NCAA Division III with a total time of 1:13:33.4. Her run time of 22:05.5 helped her pick up multiple positions in the final leg of the event. She was able to secure a time that was 18 seconds ahead of the next best NCAA DIII contender.

Junior Kathryn Berlew was the next Thunder student-athlete to finish at 1:20:02.0. Berlew's results were highlighted by her performance on the bike at 39:41.4 to garner a 16th place finish among NCAA DIII competitors.

Senior Rebecca Schaffner (18th)and sophomore Summer South (22nd) were just behind Berlew at 1:20:56.3 and 1:21:18.0. The final group of Trine finishers included sophomore Mariah Hurst in 31st (1:24:34.6), freshman Alyssa Seiter in 36th (1:27:54.3) and sophomore Paige Aselage in 41st (1:29:40.0).
