IRWIN NAMED MIAA POSITION PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine middle blocker Betsy Irwin its Position Player of the Week in volleyball for matches played through October 7.

Irwin, a senior from Athens, Ohio (Alexander HS), became Trine’s all-time career leader in kills, slamming 22 kills in two matches for the week to boost her career total to 1,396. She had 11 kills, four blocks and two service aces in a five-set loss to Saint Mary’s, then followed with 11 kills, five blocks and two aces in a sweep of Albion. Irwin is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and fourth time in her career.
