ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine University setter Carly Searles its Specialty Player of the Week in volleyball for matches played through September 22.
Searles, a junior from Levering (Petoskey HS), dished out 117 assists (9.8 per set) and added 17 kills and 34 digs for the week as Trine won three straight MIAA matches. Searles had a double-double in all three matches. She had 40 assists, six kills and 14 digs as the Thunder rallied from two sets down to defeat Saint Mary's in five sets, 34 assists six kills and 10 digs in their sweep of Adrian and 43 assists, five kills and 10 digs in a four-set win over Kalamazoo. Searles is being honored as Specialty Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
