ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine volleyball team has released its schedule for the 2015 season, the team announced Tuesday.
The Thunder will play six matches against NCAA Tournament participants, highlighted by two conference matches each against Calvin and Hope. Trine will face each team at home as part of the MIAA-slate. The Thunder will also face postseason participants Mount Union and Springfield at a pair of weekend tournaments. Trine is coming off its best season as a member of NCAA Division III, finishing last season with a 24-6 overall record. The Thunder placed third in the MIAA last year.
Trine opens the season at Mount Union, beginning one of three tournaments the team will be participating in with a match against Westminster (Pa.). All of the Thunder's non-conference matches will come in tournament play. Trine will also face Bethany, Grove City and the host Purple Raiders.
The tournament includes a trip to the New York City area for four matches at Kean University. The Thunder will face Kean, Springfield, Baruch and Frostburg State. Trine's last trip to the northeast saw the team sweep through the UMASS-Boston Invitational last fall.
The non-conference slate also includes three matches at the Wittenberg Fall Classic. The Thunder face Ohio Northern, Heidelberg and Otterbein that weekend.
Once again, conference play includes home and away matches with every MIAA team. Highlighting the league schedule is four-straight home matches in mid-October as the team heads towards the final stretch of the regular-season.
