GREENCASTLE, Ind.—The Trine volleyball team wrapped up play at the DePauw Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Thunder dropped its first match to Rose-Hulman, 3-0, and followed with a 3-0 loss to Hanover.
In the first match, Rose-Hulman defeated Trine, 25-16, 25-19 and 25-23. In the second match, Hanover won 25-14, 25-11 and 25-9. Rhylee Beshears (Gary, Ind. / Hobart) notched 29 digs to pace Trine's defensive efforts. Janaya Wilder (Decatur, Ind. / Bellmont) led the Thunder attack with 12 kills on the afternoon, while Samantha Ihrie (Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble) handed out 22 assists and added 18 digs.
Wilder's nine kills and Beshears' 13 digs led the Thunder in the loss to Rose-Hulman. Trine notched 10 blocks, with seven different players leading to that total. RHIT was led by Bailey MacInnis with 10 kills. The Engineers hit .169 to Trine's .046.
In the second match, Morgan Harris (Crown Point, Ind. / Merrillville) led the attack with seven kills. She hit .417. Beshears notched 16 digs, while Ihrie added 11 to lead the defensive effort. Hanover hit .392 as a team and notched 11 blocks.
