Volleyball Falls to Adrian

ANGOLA, Ind.-The Trine volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to Adrian on Friday night in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association matchup.

The Bulldogs won the opening set 25-18 before Trine tied the match at 1-1 with a 25-21 victory in the second. Adrian sealed its win with victories in the third and fourth at 25-16 and 25-12, respectively. The Bulldogs improve to 11-6 overall and 7-2 MIAA, while Trine moves to 2-16 and 2-7 MIAA.

Sophomore Janaya Wilder (Decatur, Ind./Bellmont) led the Thunder offense with 11 kills and a season-high 18 digs. Fellow sophomore Morgan Harris (Crown Point, Ind./Merrillville) added 10 kills while hitting .600. Freshman Raven Hood (Monroe, Mich./Airport) notched a career high 11 digs and added 10 assists and two aces. Junior Samantha Ihrie (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) totaled 19 assists and 10 digs with two aces. Shannon Scott (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg) and Emma Bowman (Corvallis, Ore./Saint Joseph) each had three block assists at the net for the Thunder, and Bowman added a solo block as well.

The Bulldogs were led by Olivia Welch with 12 kills and 15 digs. Margo Joubran added 10 kills and 11 digs. Libero Haley Mellon notched a match-high 21 digs. Marisa Dion helped Adrian with 32 assists.

Trine will be back in action on Saturday when it will travel to Calvin for a 1 p.m. match.
