ANGOLA, Ind.—The Trine volleyball team wrapped up its season on Saturday afternoon with a loss to Saint Marys in Hershey Hall.
The Thunder finishes its season with a 3-26 overall record and 2-14 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Saint Mary's will move onto the MIAA tournament with a 15-13 overall mark and 11-5 MIAA.
The Belles defeated the Thunder in straight sets, 25-21, 25-17 and 27-25.
Shannon Scott (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg) led the Thunder offense with eight kills while hitting .304. Samantha Ihrie (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) notched 19 assists. Janaya Wilder (Decatur, Ind./Bellmont) had a team high 10 digs. Junior Emma Bowman had seven blocks including three solo.
Meaghan Gibbons and Rachel Bonek each totaled 15 kills for the Belles. Alexis Grady grabbed a match-high 41 assists. Kaylin Szucs grabbed 25 digs for Saint Marys.
Before the match, Trine honored graduating junior Madison Cook (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble). Cook will begin pursuing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy next year. Cook has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average at Trine.
