ADRIAN, MICH. – The Trine women's volleyball team defeated Adrian College in straight sets.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first, but the Thunder responded by scoring five straight to take the lead. They would not relinquish it on the way to a 25-23 win.
The second set began the same way with Adrian coming out with a 3-0 lead. Once again Trine responded battling back to a tie and then a small lead at 6-4. The teams traded points throughout the set and found themselves tied at 24, before Trine finished the set off with the final two points to win 26-24.
In the final set the Thunder pulled away in the end for a 25-18 win, finishing of the sweep.
Freshman Emma Gaff was a huge part of the victory, leading the team in both kills (10) and digs (13). She also added a service ace.
Junior Raven Hood led the team in assists with 15. She also added eight digs and two service aces to the teams winning effort.
Freshman Lindsey DeCamp had a match high five service aces. She was also second on the team with 11 digs.
The Thunder will take the floor again when they return home to face Saint Mary's College on Friday, Sept. 22, at 7:00 p.m.
