Volleyball Splits on Second Day of Tournament

NAPERVILLE, ILL. -- The Trine women's volleyball team split in the second day of competition at the Tiffany Robinson Tournament, losing to Nebraska Wesleyan University and defeating Central College (Iowa).

The Thunder lost a tight match to start the day, falling to Nebraska Wesleyan by 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 15-25, 25-17, 15-13). Trine then defeated Central 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23).

Against Nebraska Wesleyan freshman Emma Gaff (Hamilton/Hamilton) led the team with 15 kills, she added 18 digs and a service ace to the effort as well. Freshman Lindsey DeCamp (New Haven/New Haven) led the teams in digs with 24 and in aces with four.

In the second match of the day, junior Shannon Scott (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg) and freshman Madison Munger (Indianapolis/Franklin Central) tied with 11 kills apiece to lead the team. Scott also added a team-high four solo blocks. DeCamp once again led the team in digs with 19 and added three more aces to her day.

The Thunder will return to conference competition on Tuesday, Oct. 17, when Olivet College comes to town for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
