Scott Scores All-MIAA Honors

ANGOLA, IND. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced the 2017 volleyball All-MIAA Awards on Friday, November 3. Junior Shannon Scott (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg) received second-team honors for the Thunder.

Scott led Trine attackers this season with a .253 attack percentage, which was also good enough to finish in the top ten among MIAA competitors this season. She finishes second on the team with 71 total blocks, which was also good enough for a top ten finish among MIAA players. During conference play, Scott finished with 52 total blocks which was second in the conference behind only freshman teammate Sarah Toles (Kendallville/East Noble).

Scott turned in two performances that cracked the Trine record books this year. The first came at home on October 7 in a match against Albion College, when Scott finished with a .583 attack percentage. That is the sixth highest single-match attack percentage recorded by a Trine University player.

On October 24 in a match against Alma College, Scott recorded eight blocking assists which is tied for fourth-most for a single match in Trine records.

Following this, her junior, season Scott now ranks ninth in career attack percentage and sixth in block assists in Trine record books.

"Shannon was a solid force at the net for us all year, both offensively and defensively," said head coach Jamie Wozniak, "It's always a team effort of course, but this season she stood out and definitely deserved the recognition."

The Thunder finished conference play tied for fourth place with an 8-8 record, losing out to Albion College for a place in the conference tournament on tiebreakers. Overall Trine finished with a 13-13 record.
