Volleyball Splits Again

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Trine University women's volleyball team finished off the Roger Williams Invitational with a second consecutive 1-1 day.

The Thunder started the day by defeating Alfred (N.Y.) University by 3-1. Sophomore Madison Munger (Indianapolis / Franklin Central) and senior Shannon Scott (Vicksburg, Mich. / Vicksburg) led the way offensively finishing tied for the team-high in kills. But the whole team played effective offense finishing with a .322 kill percentage in the match.

Senior Raven Hood (Monroe, Mich. / Airport) led the team in assists while sophomore Lindsey DeCamp (New Haven / New Haven) led the way in the digs category.

In the second match of the day, Trine came up short against host Roger Williams by three sets to one. The Thunder's lone set win came in the third by the score of 25-19.

Munger once again made an impact on the contest leading the team with eight kills and 14 digs. Freshmen Alyvia Sundheimer (Franklin / Franklin Community) and Kendra Nicley (Lebanon / Western Boone) joined Munger with eight kills of their own.

Following the day two split the Thunder will return from their New England trip with a 2-2 record. Their next contests will come when the participate in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Preview Tournament beginning on Friday, September 7.
