Volleyball Drops Two at Bishop Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Trine University women's volleyball team came up just short against host Ohio Wesleyan in the first match of the day falling 3-2, then were swept by Otterbein 3-0.

In the first match Trine took the first set 25-16 and then would trade wins with the Bishops to force a fifth set. In the decisive set the Thunder came up just short falling 16-14 for the loss.

Sophomore Madison Munger (Indianapolis / Franklin Central) led the team offensively with 10 kills. The freshmen duo of Alyvia Sundheimer (Franklin / Franklin Community) and Kendra Nicley (Lebanon / Western Boone) each came in with eight kills to finish in a tie for second most on the team.

In the second match of the day Trine found themselves outmatched against a tough Otterbein squad, dropping the match by three sets to zero.

The same trio of hitters led the team offensively for the Thunder as in the first match. This time Sundheimer came away with six kills while Nicley and Munger finished second with five kills each.

Trine falls to 5-6 following the loss. They will continue Bishop Invitational competition tomorrow, Sept. 15 when they take on Hanover at 11 a.m. and Franklin at 1 p.m.
