Thunder Drop First MIAA Contest

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Trine University women's volleyball team came up short against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Adrian College by the score of 3-1.

The Thunder came out strong taking the first set 25-19. They then dropped three straight sets to fall in the match 3-1.

Sophomore Madison Munger (Indianapolis / Franklin Central) once again led the way offensively for Trine coming away with 16 kills in the contest and recording a Thunder attacker high .222 hitting percentage. 

Fellow sophomore Sarah Toles (Kendallville / East Noble) also finished with a .222 hitting percentage and tied for second on the team with eight kills. Senior Shannon Scott (Vicksburg, Mich. / Vicksburg) also finished with eight kills.

Freshman Kendra Nicley (Lebanon / Western Boone) led the team defensively finishing with a team high 26 digs. Senior Morgan Harris (Crown Point / Merrillville) anchored the block for the Thunder finishing with five total blocks.

Trine falls to 7-7 overall and 0-1 in the MIAA following the loss. They will return home for the first time this season on Friday, September 21 for a 6:30 p.m. match against Olivet College.
