Women's Volleyball Falls to Alma

ALMA, Mich. -- The Trine University women's volleyball team took the opening set before losing three straight to come away with a loss against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) opponent Alma College, 3-1.

The Thunder came out strong winning five straight points to take an early 15-7 lead in the first set. They would eventually win the set comfortably 25-15, to take the 1-0 lead in the match.

The Scots made the necessary adjustments and came away with the next three sets to come away with the 3-1 match victory.

Senior Shannon Scott (Vicksburg, Mich. / Vicksburg) and sophomore Madison Munger (Indianapolis / Franklin Central) finished the night tied with team-high tallies of 10 kills. Scott also led attackers on the team with a .346 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Sarah Toles (Kendallville / East Noble) anchored the block for the Thunder coming away with five total blocks in the contest. Sophomore Lindsey DeCamp (New Haven / New Haven) led the team defensively with 21 digs in the contest.

Trine falls to 8-8 overall and 1-2 in the MIAA following the loss. They will next take the floor when they host the top team in the country and MIAA opponent Calvin College on Tuesday, Oct. 2. The match is set to start at 6:30 p.m.
