Women's Volleyball Drops Two at Crossover

LANSING, Mich. – The Trine University women's volleyball team dropped their final two contests at the MIAA-NCAC Crossover Event to Hiram College by the score of 3-2 and to Denison University by the score of 3-0.

The Thunder started the day right taking the first set from Hiram by the score of 25-8. They would then drop the second set 25-14 before winning the third 25-20. They would then drop the final two sets with scores of 25-15 and 15-12.

Junior Madison Munger (Indianapolis, Ind. / Franklin Central) led the team offensively with 20 kills while recording a .224 hitting percentage and 12 digs. Defensively, classmate Lindsey DeCamp (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven) came up with 23 digs.

The player of the match, however, was junior Jacqueline Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lutheran Northwest) who led the team with 35 assists while also recording seven kills on a .375 hitting percentage. She also came away with three total blocks tying for a lead on the team.

The second contest of the day saw the Thunder somewhat outmatched by a strong Denison squad. They would drop the first set 25-12 before putting up their best performance in the second while dropping it 25-21. The team would then lose the final set 25-17.

Once again Munger led the way offensively for the team coming away with 15 kills in the contest. She also led the team with nine digs. Baughman led the way with 22 assists.

Trine drops to 4-3 following the loss. They will take the courts again when they travel to the Hanover College Invitational on Friday, Sept. 13. They will begin the event with a match against Capital University which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
