ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's volleyball team was defeated in three sets on the road by hosts Hope College.

The opening set saw the Flying Dutch take an early lead, but the Thunder held the match close keeping within three until the middle portion of the set. Hope would pull away with a 6-0 run, from which they never looked back taking the set 25-16.

The second set saw the Flying Dutch steadily build a lead pulling away and looking to win lopsidedly again with a 23-14 lead late in the set. But the Thunder clawed their way back with a 7-1 run before dropping the final point to lose 25-21. Hope finished off the match taking the final set 25-13 and winning the match 3-0.

Junior Madison Munger (Indianapolis, Ind. / Franklin Central) led the way for the team with 11 kills in the match. Classmate Jacqueline Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lutheran Northwest) led the way with 21 assists. Lindsey DeCamp (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven) came in with 15 digs to lead the Thunder defensively.

Trine falls to 12-8 overall and 3-2 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) competition. They will continue their season when they host Kalamazoo College in another MIAA contest.
