Women's Volleyball Splits on Day Two of North Central Tournament

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Trine University women's volleyball team finished the day with a split of their two matches, dropping the first contest of the day to Nebraska Wesleyan University before defeating hosts North Central College.

The Thunder started the day with a chance for redemption following last night's five-set loss to the Prairie Wolves, but they were unable to take advantage and fell in three straight sets. The team was largely unable to get the offense rolling in the match and fell by scores of 25-18, 25-20 and 25-13.

Junior Madison Munger (Indianapolis, Ind. / Franklin Central) led the team with nine kills in the match. Classmate Jacqueline Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lutheran Northwest) came away with 21 assists and Lindsey DeCamp (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven) led the team with 17 digs.

Trine looked in danger of finishing the weekend winless as they started the second match of the day dropping the opening set by the score of 25-20. The team started to find their footing in the second set as they went on an 8-3 run to seal the win 25-21. They then made shorter work of the final two sets winning 25-15 and 25-19 to take the match 3-1.

The Thunder finished the match with an extremely balanced offensive attack, with three members recording double-digit kills. Munger along with classmate Sarah Toles (Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble) led the way with 12 kills and Becca Moon (Charlevoix, Mich. / Charlevoix) came in just behind with 11.

Baughman once again led the way with 34 assists. DeCamp led the way again with 16 digs while also adding a team-high five service aces.

Trine exits the weekend with a 14-10 overall record. They will continue their season on Tuesday, Oct. 22 when they travel to face Dominican (Ill.) University. The match is set to start at 8 p.m. EDT.
