Women's Volleyball Besieged by Britons

ALBION, Mich. -- The Trine University women's volleyball team dropped their final regular-season contest to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) opponent Albion College, 3-0.

The Britons built a commanding lead in the middle portion of the first set when they went on a 10-2 run bringing the score to 17-7. The Thunder would try to claw their way back into the set but fell by the score of 25-19. Albion dominated the second set from the get-go, building a 14-2 lead and then cruising to the 25-13 victory.

Trine took the first three points of the final set and held a lead until the Britons went ahead at 6-5. The Thunder would keep it close but never got a lead again and fell in the set 25-20.

Junior Kristen Dauksza (Kentland, Ind. / South Newton) led the team offensively finishing the game with nine kills. Senior Jacqueline Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lutheran Northwest) led the team with 24 assists, while classmate Lindsey DeCamp (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven) finished with seven digs.

The team falls to 7-4 overall and 3-4 in MIAA play following the loss. They will await placement in the MIAA Tournament which is set to begin on Tuesday, April 20.
