Freshman Morrison Qualifies for NCWWC Nationals

ERIE, Pa. -- The Trine University women's wrestling team made the most of their lone participant in the NCWWC Northeast Regional, coming away with its first national qualifier. Freshman Riley Morrison (Princeton, Texas) wrestled back from an opening-round loss to earn the qualification.

Morrison, who competed at 109, lost her opening match to the eventual champion. She bounced back quickly picking up a win by fall in her next match to earn a spot in the third-place match. She dropped that match but earned a fourth-place finish by the strength of her other victory on the day.

"I am really proud of Riley for how she wrestled today and this whole season," said head coach Amy Hildebrandt, "With two weeks to prepare I am really excited for the national championships, I think she has a great chance to be competitive."

The national championships which will be hosted by Adrian College on Saturday, March 6.
