ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Trine University women's wrestling team traveled to the Adrian College Womens Open to open the the 2021-22 season, the sequel to the team's inaugural season.
Riley Morrison was the highlight in the event as she came in with a seventh place finish in the 109 weightclass. Morrison dropped her opening round match, but was able to decisively wrestle her way back through the consolation bracket. She picked up a technical fall victory in the first round and a pin in the second round. Then she quickley pinned her opponent in the seventh place match to secure her spot.
Also participating for the Thunder were Michelle Sanchez who competed in the 116 weightclass and Ashton Francis in the 170 weightclass.
The Thunder will next compete when they travel to the Albion Invite on Saturday, Nov. 20. That tournament is set to start at 9 a.m.
