ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University women's wrestling team competed in their first home event this Saturday, Jan. 22 by hosting Davenport University and Hiram College for a tri-match. The Thunder worked hard in their matches but ended up falling in their six matches.
Ashton Francis wrestled three times on the day, the most of any athlete for any team. She turned in three gritty performances.
Teammate Michelle Sanchez wrestled twice on the day. In her first contest she wrestled up a weight class and put up a strong fight until the final minute of the bout.
Riley Morrison only had one match of the day but was close to taking a victory in the opening minute of that match. She scored the opening takedown of the bout and nearly pinned her opponent.
The Thunder will travel to face Albion College on Wednesday January, 26 in their next competition.
