FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Trine University women's wrestling team took the trip to Indiana Tech twice this past weekend. On Friday they competed in the Warrior Duals and Saturday they took on the Indiana Tech Warrior Women's Open.

The Thunder began Friday by facing off with the hosts from Indiana Tech. The dual featured three contested matches. Junior Riley Morrison competed in the 109 match and picked up a victory by 6-2 decision. Classmate Michelle Sanchez faired less well falling 11-1 in the 116 match by technical fall and freshman Charissa Fauber dropped the 155 match by fall.

In the other dual of the day two matches were contested both going in favor of Hiram College. Fauber recorded another fall at 155 while fellow freshman Kiera Wilson lost 11-0 in the 143 match.

The team returned on Saturday for an individual tournament competition. Morrison ended up being the highlight for the team by securing a seventh-place finish.

She began the day with two losses, the first in the quarterfinal round by pin and then in the opening consolation match by 10-0. The two losses put her in the seventh-place match where she came up with a 10-0 technical fall victory over her own to earn the result.

Sanchez competed in the 116 bracket and after an opening round loss she nearly recorded a technical fall victory of her own, finishing with an 11-2 victory. She would bow out of the consolation bracket in the next round.
