Women's Wrestling Competes at Adrian Invite

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Trine University women's wrestling team traveled to the Adrian College Invitational where Riley Morrison led the way for the program, finishing eighth at 109.

Morrison opened the day with a victory by pin, before dropping her second match to fall to the consolation bracket. She reeled off three straight wins before facing off with the same wrestler that beat her earlier in the day in the fifth round. She lost the second meeting as well to end her day in the seventh-place match. That final match, coming against a wrestler she had defeated earlier in the day, went uncontested, as Morrison was out of matches for the day.

Madison Small was the other member of the squad to record multiple victories on the day. After an opening round fall, the freshman recorded a pair of victories to open the consolation rounds. She exited the competition in the third round.

The final win of the day came for Hailey Budney at 155. She lost her first match, but then won in the opening round of the consolation bracket with a pin at 2:29.

The Thunder will return to the mats in a week's time. They are scheduled to compete at the Albion Open, which is scheduled for Sunday, November 19.
