Six Place at Alma Open for Women's Wrestling

ALMA, Mich. – The Trine University women's wrestling team had six members place at today's Alma College Open. Madison Small led the way for the team winning at 136.

Small went undefeated in her round robin bracket, defeating all three others in the weight class. She opened the day with two decisions the first 9-0 and the second 5-0. She finished with a quick pin in her final match to earn the championship.

Three members of the team would finish second in their respective brackets. Riley Morrison led the group winning all but one of her matches on the day, including three pins and a decision, as she took second at 109.

At 123 Michaela Dykes went 3-2 for the day to earn second. She won her first and last matches of the day by tech fall and then secured a pin in her third match. Ashton Francis would also finish the day in second.

Michelle Sanchez would finish in third at 116 and Hailey Budney would finish fourth at 155. Budney won two matches on the day, one by tech fall and the other a pin.

Trine will return to the mats on Friday, January 26 when they travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. for the 2024 Warrior Duals hosted by Indiana Tech.
