Morrison Leads Way for Women's Wrestling

MOLINE, Ill. – The Trine University women's wrestling team traveled to the Division III National Invite and return home with a 15th place team finish.

The Thunder secured the finish after amassing 20.5 points during the competition. Senior Riley Morrison led the way for the program with 13 of those points. Morrison opened the weekend with an 8-0 decision before falling to the consolation bracket. She secured a spot in the third-place match with a tech fall victory before ending up with a fourth-place finish after a loss in her final match.

The second-best finish of the day belonged to Hailey Budney who secured 5.5 points for the team after winning a pair of matches. She opened the day with a quick loss, before securing a pair of pins on her first two consolation bracket matches. A second loss ended her day.

Finally, Madison Small was the last member of the team to earn points, winning her second match of the day by tech fall to secure two team points.

The Thunder are set to compete at home for the first time, hosting Rochester (Mich.) University on Wednesday, February 14. The opening match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
