Women's Cross Country Preview

ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine women's cross country team gets their season underway this afternoon at the Manchester University Hokum Karem.

The cross country teams will enter a new era, as head coach Zach Raber enters his first full-season at the helm of the Thunder cross country programs. Raber took over the men's program midway through the 2013 season, and will also lead the women's program this season. The Trine women are coming off a seventh-place finish and will be looking to continue to climb up the conference standings.

Senior Kelli Hogenkamp (Coldwater, Ohio/Coldwater), junior Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan), and sophomores Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne), Holly Wolfe (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka), and Adrea Alyse Ayres (Eastlake, Ohio/North) are all back after consistently contending for spots among Trine's top five runners last fall.

Niki Louise Salzman (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) also returns as an experienced runner for the Thunder, while junior Mary Lefere (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Catholic Central) joins the team after gaining experience on the track last season.

Heather Richardson (Fort Wayne, Ind./South Side) headlines a class of newcomers that should add quality depth to the existing core of runners. Katelyn Richardson (Hammond, Ind./Bishop Noll) and Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont./West Yellowstone) join the freshman class and will push for spots among Trine's top five runners.
