Thunder Place Seventh at Ray Bullock Invitational

UPLAND, IND.-- The Trine women's cross country team placed seventh in the Ray Bullock Invitational, held Friday at Taylor University.

The Thunder performance earned the team 200 points in the meet. As a team, Trine runners averaged a 23:02 time on the 5K course. Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) turned in the top performance for the Thunder, placing 32nd overall with a time of 22:00. The junior averaged a 7:05 mile. Taylor University took first overall with a team score of 19 points. The Trojans were ranked seventh in the nation in the NAIA Preseason Poll.

Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) finished second among Trine runners and 34th overall with a time of 22:09. She was followed by Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont./West Yellowstone), who finished in 22:19.

Heather Richardson (Fort Wayne, Ind./South Side) and Kelli Hogenkamp (Coldwater, Ohio/Coldwater) rounded out Trine's top five runners.

The Thunder will return to action Saturday, Sep. 19 when they travel to the Indiana Intercollegiate Championship.
