Thunder Place Third in Grace Lancer Invitational

WINONA LAKE, IND.-- The Trine women's cross country team placed third in the Grace Lancer Invitational, held Saturday morning on the campus of Grace College.

The Thunder earned a team score of 87 points behind the strength of three top-10 finishers. Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) placed seventh overall in the 5K race. The junior finished with a time of 20:21, which topped her only other 5K effort this fall by 1:39. Huntington won the team championship with 15 points. Hannah Moore of Huntington was the individual champion with a time of 19:12. 

Heather Richardson (Fort Wayne, Ind./South Side) finished just behind Forsythe with a time of 20:25. She placed eighth in the collegiate race and improved her 5K time by 34 seconds. Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) rounded out Trine's top-10 finishers with a time of 20:34 to place ninth. Ortiz improved upon her previous 5K time by 35 seconds.

Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont./West Yellowstone) finished fourth among Trine runners, coming across the finish line in 21.39. Kelli Hogenkamp (Coldwater, Ohio/Coldwater) rounded out the top five runners for the Thunder in 23:35.

Trine returns to action Saturday, Oct. 18 at the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational.
