GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.-- Trine placed seventh in the MIAA Championships, held Saturday at Calvin College.
Thunder runners earned a total of 206 points. Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) led Trine with a time of 24:27 to earn the team 29 points. That time was better than the sophomore's MIAA Jamboree 6K time by a minute and a half. Overall, Trine runners averaged a time of 25:35. Led by five top-10 finishes, Calvin took home the MIAA Championship with 27 points.

Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) earned Trine 36 points with a run of 24:53. That time was a season-best for the junior. Heather Richardson (Fort Wayne, Ind./South Side) finished with a personal-best 6K time of 25:14 to place third among Thunder runners.
Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont./West Yellowstone) and Kelli Hogenkamp (Coldwater, Ohio/Coldwater) rounded out Trine's top five runners. Binfet topped her previous-best 6K time by over a minute, and Hogenkamp ran her best time ever in her final MIAA Championship appearance.
The Thunder will compete in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship Saturday, Nov. 15 in Wilmington, Ohio.
