Cross Country Teams Earn All-Academic Recognition

NEW ORLEANS-- Both Trine cross country teams earned recognition for their work in the classroom as each team was named a 2015 USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Team.

To be considered an All-Academic Team, teams must have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.10 and competed in at least five different meets with at least five runners representing their school at each. The Thunder women's cross country team notched a 3.554 GPA during the fall, while the men earned 3.267 GPA. This is the second-straight year each team has earned All-Academic Team honors. Overall, 207 women's teams and 151 men's teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

The women's cross country team has achieved at least a 3.35 GPA each of the last two years, earning a Team Academic Award from the MIAA last year. Women's runners Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) and Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont./West Yellowstone) were honored on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll last year.

The men's cross country team also added to its recent record of performing well in the classroom after they earned a MIAA Team Academic Award last year. Adam Schaaf (Greentown, Ind./Eastern) and Cody Verhey (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) earned recongition on the conference honor roll last year.

The Trine men placed third in the MIAA for the team's best finish since 2007. The Thunder women tied for fourth in the conference for the team's best-ever finish as a member of the MIAA.
