Trine Women's Cross Country Places 14th at Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, KY.  --  The Trine women's cross country team traveled to Louisville, Ky. to take part in the University of Louisville Classic and placed 14th as a team in Louisville, Ky.

The Thunder finished the event with a team total of 356 points to place 14th of 18 NCAA Division III and NAIA schools that competed in the 5k "Blue" race.  Aquinas (Mich.) College placed first in the team standings with 42 points.  Taylor (Ind.) University was second at 88 points and Hope (Mich.) College rounded out the top three with 98 points.

The top individual time for Trine was turned in by freshman Evonne Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) who ran a time of 19:27.75 to place 37th overall out of 171 total runners.

Junior Hannah Blystone (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) had the second fastest time at 19:43.41 to finish 53rd and fellow junior Rebecca Piekarski (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) completed the 5k course in a time of 19:56.38 and was 68th overall.

Freshman Ruthie Luebcke (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) posted a mark of 20:22.26 to finish 99th and was followed by teammate, freshman Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll), who ran a time of 21:13.29.

Freshman Stacy Dibley (Bristol, Ind./Elkhart Central) was sixth on the team with a time of 22:01.19 and freshman Miranda Coombs (Lexington, Mich./Croswell-Lexington) rounded out the team score qualifying times at 23:07.04.

"We decided to hold Kyla [Binfet] out this week to rest up for the final six weeks of the season," said Head Coach Zach Raber.  "Without her we were a bit further back in the standings than we would like. But overall, our women ran well. Hannah and Ruthie set PRs today for 5k so that's encouraging.  We'll look to see significant improvement at Oberlin in two weeks."

Trine will travel to Oberlin, Ohio for the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday, Oct. 14.  The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
