ANGOLA, IND. -- Freshman Evonne Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) led the Trine University women's cross country team this past weekend at the Inter-Regional Rumble and was recognized by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association for her efforts by being named this week's MIAA Women's Cross Country "Runner of the Week."
Bultemeyer helped lead the Thunder to a ninth place team finish with a time of 22:46.9 in the 6k event and finished 12th overall out of 240 total runners. The mark was also a season-best for Bultemeyer.
Bultemeyer's 12th-place showing in the Inter-Regional Rumble was her second top-20 finish of the season. She finished 18th in the MIAA Jamboree in September. In addition, Bultemeyer has finished in the top-40 in every race so far during the year.
The women's cross country team will next compete in the MIAA Championship which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 on the campus of Adrian College in Adrian, Mich. The first event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
