Women's Cross Country Places 12th at Great Lakes Regional

POWELL, OHIO  --  The Trine University women's cross country team traveled to Powell, Ohio to take part in the annual NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University and placed 12th overall.

The Thunder finished with a team-total of 313 points to finish 12th of 35 teams.  Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opponents Hope (Mich.) College and Calvin (Mich.) College finished first and second with Hope garnering 88 team points and Calvin 113 points.  Allegheny (Pa.) College rounded out the top three schools with 117 points.

Trine had two competitors finish in the top-35 individual to earn All-Region honors in freshman Evonne Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and senior Kyla Binfet (Branson, Mont./West Yellowstone).  Bultemeyer placed just ahead of Binfet in 20th place out of 247 participants after completing the 6k course in a time of 23:01.3.  Binfet cross the finish line in 21st place after running a time of 23:01.4.

Junior Lacie Piekarski (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) was the third Trine runner to complete the race and posted a mark of 24:10.7 and was 73rd overall.  Fellow junior Hannah Blystone (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) ran a time of 24:20.6 and placed in the top-100 at 84th. 

Freshman Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) also competed and had a time of 24:54.1, followed by freshman Stacy Dibley (Bristol, Ind./Elkhart Central) who completed the course with a mark of 25:50.6. 

Completing the list of competitors for Trine was freshman Miranda Coombs (Lexington, Mich./Croswell-Lexington) who had a time of 28:43.7.
