Women's Cross Country Finishes Fourth at Hokum Karem

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. -- The Trine University women's cross country team competed at the 2019 Manchester University Hokum Karem Meet. The Hokum Karem is a two person relay where each competitor runs one mile three times.  

As a team the Thunder women placed fourth overall out of seven teams, with an overall score of 34 points.  Huntington University took the team title.

The top three teams for the women were juniors Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) and Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead), junior Stacy Dibley (Bristol, Ind./Elkhart Central) and sophomore Chloe Brittain (Wheeler, Mic./Breckinridge), and junior Miranda Coombs (Lexington,Mich./Croswell-Lexington) and sophomore Madison Howard (Stockbridge, Mich./Stockbridge). 

Out of 42 teams, Bultemeyer and Lohman were the first pair to come through the finish line with a time of 34:26. The second pair for the Thunder was Dibley and Brittain finishing 13th overall with a time of 37:09. The third pair was Coombs and Howard who finished 31st with an overall time of 41:29. 

"I thought the women's team competed well, but we definitely have a long way to go," said Head Coach Zach Raber.  "Elizabeth and Evie ran very well. They beat some very good runners from Huntington. Our second and third pairs were a little far back, but they'll improve over the next few weeks. 

The Trine women will next compete in the Knight Invitational hosted by Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich. on September 7th.  It is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
