Trine Competes at Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, OHIO  --  The Trine University women's cross country team traveled to Oberlin, Ohio to compete in the annual Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College and placed 17th overall.

The Thunder finished with an overall team score of 462 points to finish 17th of 32 teams.  Host school Oberlin ended up as the team champion with a total of 104 points and was followed by Bates (Maine) College in second place with 112 points.  John Carroll (Ohio) University was third with 142 points.

Individually, the Thunder were led by junior Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) who had the top overall time out of 283 total competitors of 20:56.1 in the 6k course and finished almost nine seconds ahead of second place.  Her time also improved upon her school record mark that she set earlier this season (21:29.0) at the Calvin (Mich.) College Invitational.

Freshman Alli Smith (Temperance, Mich./Bedford Senior) was the next Thunder runner to cross the finish line after navigating the course in a time of 23:02.0 and placed 55th overall.  Junior Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) had the third best time for Trine at 23:21.9 which was good enough for 89th place.

Rounding out the top-five times for Trine were sophomore Chloe Brittain (Wheeler, Mich./Breckenridge) and sophomore Madison Howard (Stockbridge, Mich./Stockbridge).  Brittain ran a time of 24:13.8 to place 148th and Howard followed with a mark of 25:22.2 and finished 217th, respectively.

In addition, junior Miranda Coombs (Lexington, Mich./Croswell-Lexington) competed anad ran a time of 25:39.6.  

Trine will be idle until Saturday, Nov. 2 when it competes in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship.  The Thunder will serve as hosts of this year's championship with the race held on Trine's campus.  The women's race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
