Lydia Randolph Wins Individual Title at Polar Bear Invitational

ADA, Ohio – To kick off the 2022 season, the Trine University women's cross country team competed in the Polar Bear Invitational on Saturday morning, hosted by Ohio Northern University.

As a team, the Thunder were bested by the host Polar Bears, however sophomore Lydia Randolph was the individual champion of the event with a time of 19:13.5 in the 5K race. She gapped second place by nearly 11 seconds.

Following Randolph was junior Carol Haldeman. Haldeman placed seventh overall at 20:07.1 and had the second-best time among Trine student-athletes.

A trio of Thunder women were 10th, 11th and 12th. Seniors Amira Faulkner and Chloe Brittain had good showings at 20:18.0 and 20:29.5. Sophomore Ana Parker rounded out the group with a time of 20:36.9.

Newcomer and senior transfer Brianna Medcalf finished 17th overall (21:15.4) and freshman Bailey Puckett was 21st (21:25.6).

Up next for Trine is their closest event of the season, the Rumble in the Fort at Purdue University-Fort Wayne on Friday, September 9th. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 6 pm.
