Thunder Place Fourth at Inter-Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Trine University women's cross country team returned to the course after a two-week hiatus is Oberlin, Ohio for the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble. The Thunder were fourth at the event in a field of 32 teams.

John Carroll University were the team champions after placing all five scoring runners in the top 21 positions. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Centre College were ahead of Trine as well, but there was a slim margin between the teams in second, third and fourth.

Leading the way for the Thunder women was sophomore Lydia Randolph. Randolph was third overall with a time of 22:09.0. Hope Murphy from Baldwin Wallace University and Claire Walters from Franciscan College finished just ahead of Randolph to complete the podium.

Junior Carol Haldeman and senior Brianna Medcalf put together solid performances for Trine as well. Haldeman was 20th overall with a time of 22:57.4 and picked up one position over the final leg of the 6K race. It is her fastest time of the 2022 season thus far. Medcalf was 28th at 23:11.2. That is her fastest 6K time since joining the program prior to the season.

Junior Ana Parker placed 48th and scored 47 points. She completed the race with a time of 23:30.2, topping her previous best time by 27 seconds. Senior Chloe Brittain was the final scoring member for the Thunder with a time of 24:08.0. She tallied 81 points.

The next event for the Trine women's cross country team is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships at Alma College on October 29.
