Trine Wins Heat at the Louisville Invite

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – At the Louisville Invite, the Trine University women's cross country team was able to win their heat out of 32 teams spanning across all three NCAA Divisions as well as NAIA opponents.

The team accumulated a score of 179, with NCAA DII Trevecca Nazarene University second at 208 and Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Hope College third at 219.

"Our women's team really had to battle the heat in their 5k race," Head Coach Zach Raber mentioned after the event. "I'm really proud of how they continued to challenge themselves. Lydia [Randolph] got out with the leaders and did a nice job of hanging with them. Our pack split up a bit but they were able to find a way down the stretch to get it done!"

Trine's highest scoring member was Lydia Randolph with a 5k time of 19:02.8. She placed sixth overall and first among NCAA DIII competitors. Chloe Goodrich was 33rd on the leaderboard with a time of 19:44.9.

Bailey Puckett, Eleanor Young and Hannah Parker were the final members of the Thunder team with countable scores on Saturday. Puckett secured a 43rd place finish at 19:56.0, while Young was 49th at 20:01.3 and Parker 55th after crossing the line in 20:07.8, a new career-best for the sophomore. Sidney Swick finished inside the top-100 in the field as well in 92nd with a time of 20:40.5.

The next event for the Thunder is the Bethel University XC Invitational next Friday at 2:30 p.m.
