Randolph and Puckett Lead Trine at MIAA Championships

HOLLAND, Mich. – At the 2023 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Cross Country Championships, the Trine University women's cross country team finished third in the conference on Saturday. Hope College and Calvin University shared the team title with a matching score of 33, and the Thunder were behind them at 80 points.

Trine had a pair of All-MIAA recipients at the event. Junior Lydia Randolph tallied her second consecutive All-MIAA First Team performance with a time of 21:49.2 to place eighth overall. Also garnering postseason honors was sophomore Bailey Puckett. Puckett received her first All-MIAA award as a Second Team member with a 16th place time of 22:28.4, a new career-best in the 6K.

Sophomores Chloe Goodrich and Eleanor Young were just behind Puckett in the 17th and 18th spots. Goodrich completed the race with a time of 22:32.4 and Young at 22:35.6, a new career-best for both. Freshman Annabel Stanley concluded the scoring for the Thunder in 21st (22:54.1). It was her first event since the season-opening Mastodon Open.

Sophomore Sidney Swick (23:09.7) and junior Hannah Parker (23:31.3) served as the team's blockers with finishes of 24th and 26th on the leaderboard.

The team looks ahead to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional at Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton, Ohio for their next postseason event. That race takes place on Saturday, November 11 for a shot to compete at the NCAA DIII National Championships.
