NEW ORLEANS, LA. -- The Trine University men's and women's cross country teams have earned academic team and individual honors by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers. Overall, there were 172 men's teams and 212 women's teams that received All-Academic honors in NCAA Division III.
The Trine men had a combined GPA of 3.45 and the women had a 3.52 GPA.
To be eligible for the All-Academic individual award, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. There were a total of 309 men and 378 women who were named All-Academic Individuals in NCAA Division III.
On the men's side, the Thunder had three student-athletes named in juniors Jack Beakas (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb), Levi Neuzerling (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) and Neil O'Brien (Whiteland, Ind./Roncalli). For the women, juniors Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) both garnered accolades.
